Product Description

Typically much hardier than other sturgeon in the US market. These are Florida-raised fish that do well in warmer waters as long as oxygen levels are kept at saturation. They will not do well in still ponds, moderate water movement by way of waterfalls or fountains is recommended and additional aeration is necessary is warmer climates.

Distribution:  rivers draining to Black, Azov and Caspian Seas; Siberia from Ob eastward to Yenisei drainages

Lifespan: up to 20 years in captivity

Habitat: all types of freshwater benthic habitats in large rivers and lakes; will require a pond of at least 2000 gallons to raise to maturity

Diet: feed a high-quality sinking pellet containing at least 40% fish protein; feed at a rate of 2-3% of body weight per day; babies will require enormous amounts of food such as live blackworms and frozen bloodworms
